Hotel guests flash their stash

Cape Town's luxury hotels are laying on the "bling" for their cash-flushed World Cup guests, with extras ranging from a multi-million rand car to cocktails with diamonds.

This weekend Sol Kerzner decided to splurge on his guests at the One&Only.

VIP guests such as former US president Bill Clinton, who is currently staying at the V&A Waterfront resort, have the option of being chauffeured in and around town in a limited edition Maybach Zeppelin. The car is estimated to be worth R8-million and is said to be the only one in the country.

It comes with its own team of "car doctors" to ensure it is kept in mint condition.

The limited-edition luxury car is reportedly capable of topping 283km/h, and can go from zero to 100km/h in 4.9 seconds.

Earlier this year hip-hop mogul Sean "Diddy" Combs bought his eldest son Justin a similar model for his 16th birthday.

Wealthy guests wanting to quench their thirst in royal fashion can head for sundowners at the 15 On Orange Hotel and order an exclusive drink priced at a whopping R100 000. The cocktail for the uber-rich is called Monarchy 75 and comprises Tanqueray Ten, shaken with Cointreau dry orange liqueur and a hint of fresh lime, topped up with Louis Roederer Cristal Champagne.

But it's the brilliant, round-cut Shimansky diamond, glittering in its depths, that really makes this beverage sparkle.
