To rule the drive time radio roost, you need something of a Midas touch.

But Touch, as in the eccentric T-bo, is something Metro FM no longer have.

So who is set to follow in those imposing footsteps? Who can we rely on to drop names, boast, preach, give motivational talks, and play the hottest music in the country – all in one madcap, entertaining show.

According to one Sunday tabloid, it takes two to Touch.

The rumour doing the rounds is that Somizi Mhlongo and Khanyi Mbau are being lined up to take over the coveted drive-time slot. And that the acquisition of their unique skill-sets is the brainchild of Hlaudi Motsoeneng himself.

According to one SABC employee, Metro FM management aren’t too happy with the decision, as they had their hearts set on Anele Mdoda and DJ Fresh.

“He just gave management an instruction to make two slots available for Somizi and Khanyi. They didn't want to ask questions but, as staff, we could see they were not happy about the decision because they felt as though the two were being imposed on them.”

According to SABC spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago, an announcement on who will fill Tbo Touch’s slot will happen when the broadcaster is ready.

“When we introduced our talent, including the two people you are referring to, we indicated that we will announce where they will be placed. We are not going to be bullied into doing so by people who spread rumors. We do not appreciate the fact that outside forces are trying to dictate how we run our business. We will continue to run our business the best way we know how,” he told Sunday World.
