A ruling in the disciplinary hearing against convicted drug dealer Sheryl Cwele has been made, her employer, the Hibiscus Coast municipality said on Thursday.
“The chairperson of the committee has made a ruling and has requested both parties to submit mitigating and aggravating circumstances to enable him to hand down a sanction,” municipal manager Sbu Mkhize said.
The hearing was convened to determine if Cwele should keep her post as the municipality's health director after she was convicted of drug dealing by the Pietermaritzburg High Court on May 6. She was sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment.
The outcome of the hearing was expected to be made public next Friday.
Cwele is the wife of State Security Minister Siyabonga Cwele. She is appealing her drug dealing conviction and is out on R100 000 bail. – Sapa
