Cwele takes employer to court

Convicted drug trafficker Sheryl Cwele has taken her employer, the Hibiscus Coast Municipality, to court after her salary was stopped, The Witness newspaper reported on Monday.

The paper quoted Hibiscus Coast Municipality manager Sbu Mkhize who confirmed that the council was being taken to the labour court.

Cwele, the wife of state security minister Siyabonga Cwele, was convicted this year and she is appealing her 12-year-sentence. She was suspended without pay after she was found guilty.

Cwele was recently hauled to appear before the municipality’s disciplinary hearing committee and the outcome has not been made public. – Sapa
