A supermarket security guard nabbed one of two people trying to use a stolen credit card to buy alcohol at a Shoprite in Soweto's Zola North, a Johannesburg police spokesperson said on Monday.
The two handed over a card belonging to a Mr Visser on Sunday but when the cashier asked for an identity document, they ran away, said Inspector Kay Makhubele.
A security guard on duty caught one of the men and he would appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court on Monday for alleged possession and attempted use of a stolen credit card.
Makhubele also appealed to a Mr Visser who might have had his card stolen recently to get in touch with them so they could investigate whether the man they had in custody was linked to a violent crime. - Sapa
